Update on COVID-19 at MPS

Dear Bronco Country

I would like to update everyone on the COVID-19 status of the Mullen Public School District.  Last weekend, the district was notified by a staff member that they had tested positive and have been isolated by the West Central Health Department.  The staff member did not have any contact with Mullen Public School students or attend school while any students were present.  To our knowledge, all people required to quarantine have been notified by the West Central Health District.  Throughout the process, no other staff members have been contacted by the West Central Health District. The staff member followed all protocols and self isolated when they were feeling ill

Mullen Public Schools takes our students safety and well-being into consideration with every decision that is made.  That being said, we will continue to operate in the green area of the developed Pandemic Plan. Currently, Hooker County and areas that are included in the Mullen District have one confirmed active positive test.  If anything changes to the level, this will be communicated at that time due to the fluidity of the situation.

Right now masks are highly recommended but not required, the school has provided your student with a mask, or if they would like, students can bring their own mask. Currently, we believe it is a personal choice whether or not masks should be worn and a parental choice if their minors should wear masks.   As always we will keep you updated on the ever changing situation.  The Mullen Public School District is committed to providing a quality education in a safe environment for all students and staff.   Should you have any questions, comments, or concerns please don’t hesitate to call the school.

Thank you for all of your support

Chris Kuncl, Superintendent
