Second Step SEL program is research-based, teacher-informed, and classroom-tested to promote the social-emotional development, safety, and well-being of children from Early Learning through the 8th grade. The elementary teachers work on the Second Step program in their classrooms throughout the year.
All students grades 6-12 are offered both direct and indirect counseling services. The district offers a part-time school counselor, and we also have a mental health practitioner and a social worker who are available one day a week.
New for 2021-2022 school year!
We are excited to announce that the counseling department is now a team of two! With this comes a division and sharing of duties, so we thought we would outline how each of us is here for you.
Ms. Kara Connealy will be the academic counselor. She will be at the high school from 7:30-11:30 Monday through Friday and will be taking over the following duties:
Discussing college options
Answering secondary education questions and concerns
Helping with scholarships
Overseeing dual credit students
Determining graduation progress
Mrs. Megan Andersen will continue to be the acting social/emotional counselor for the district.
We are looking forward to having a productive year with our students!
