WELCOME to the 2024-25 school year! I’m so excited to be back and to work with you this year!
Website: Check out my school website for more information. https://mullenschoolcounselor.weebly.com/.
Office: My office is located just off of the library at the High School.
Schedule: I will continue to be at both the Elementary and High School buildings this year. Set times for the Elementary will be as follows.
Monday, Wednesday: Lunch and Recess following.
Tuesday, Thursday: I will begin my days at the Elementary.
Middle School: There are a Quarter and Trimester courses in their middle school schedule this year. Second quarter will begin October 21st and fourth Quarter will begin March 10th. Second Trimester will begin November 11th, and the third Trimester will begin February 17th. A complete schedule can be found on the counselor website or via the student’s PowerSchool account.
Teammates: I’m excited to join Mrs. Sooky Marks as the Program Coordinator for the Teammates Program this year. If you are in grades 7-12 and would like to be a mentee, please let Sooky or I know.
Academics: I will be addressing the following areas for students at the High School level. Some topics to discuss may include: discussing college options, answering secondary education questions and concerns, helping with scholarships, overseeing dual credit students, running transcripts, determining graduation progress.
Social/Emotional:
Second Step SEL program is research-based, teacher-informed, and classroom-tested to promote the social-emotional development, safety, and well-being of children from Early Learning through the 8th grade. The elementary teachers work on the Second Step program in their classrooms throughout the year. I will be helping teachers with their Second Step classes when I am able.
All students grades 6-12 are offered both direct and indirect counseling services. The district offers a full-time school counselor, and we also have a mental health practitioner available one day a week.
I will be accessible for students K-12 and will provide support to our teachers providing SecondStep program in the Elementary. Our school district works closely with the ESU staff to address any further concerns. This year we welcome Nicole Hoffmann to assume the role of our school’s LMHP.
College Fair: Grades 9-12 will be attending the College Fair held at the Lariat on September 9th.
Senior Financial Aid Night: October 16th at 5:00 p.m. This meeting is for students and parents about the FAFSA and information I share with Seniors.
ACT Testing: Their required test day will be March 25, 2025. Every student at the high school has access to this program. Seniors are encouraged to take the ACT again this Fall and to work on the refresher course. I will be coordinating and administering the National ACT on two dates:
October 26, 2023 - Register by September 20th
December 14, 2023 - Register by November 8th
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. I look forward to
working with each of you this coming year! Here’s to a GREAT 2024-2025 school year.
