As you may or may not be aware, the 2021 NSAA State Basketball tournaments have changed format and they are now a 4 day tournament rather than a 3 day tournament.  In the past we have taken both Thursday and Friday off when our Mullen Bronco teams have qualified for the state tournament, but this year we play on Wednesday for both Boys and Girls.  This poses a problem for our district as we cannot take off 5 days of school, and still meet the NDE hourly requirements within our 2020-2021 school calendar.  After careful consideration and collaboration with all Mullen Public Schools teachers, staff, and administration, we have decided to hold regular session school days throughout both the girls and boys state basketball tournaments.  Friday, March 12, will remain a scheduled spring break where school is not in session.  Students will still be allowed to attend the games. This decision was made by all staff members through a collaborative effort.

Overall our goal as a school district is to fully support both of the basketball teams but keep the best interests of all Mullen Public Schools students and stakeholders in mind.

Here are some clarifications that may answer some questions about attending the tournaments:

For the games and dates in which Mullen is competing:

  • Students WILL be allowed to sign out and attend the games.

    • Please notify your student’s school office if your student (non-basketball player)/elementary student plans to attend the games.

  • This absence will be granted as a school sponsored absence as long as they attend the game to support our student athletes.

  • Students and staff who remain in school will be allowed to watch the Bronco games as the staff is planning a watch party to support our student athletes from afar.

Thank you for your continuous support of Mullen Public Schools

Go Broncos!!
