Sports Physical Information: *The first allowable date for a physical to be taken for next year is May 1, 2021 and they will be required for ALL 9-12 students that wish to participate in NSAA athletic contests in the 2021-2022 school year. PHYSICAL EXAMINATION *Each student who expects to participate in athletic contests shall present to the superintendent or principal once each year, before actual participation in any interschool sport, a physician’s certificate on a form recommended by the NSAA that he/she is physically fit for athletic participation. *The individual giving a physical examination for the purpose of certifying a student is physically fit to participate in athletic activities should be licensed to diagnose, treat, or recommend treatment in the areas covered by the recommended physical examination form. The individual giving a medical opinion must do so within the scope of his/her training and within the limits defined by state statutes as to services which can be legally performed by the field of practice to which the individual belongs. *The requirement that a student must have a physical examination once each year has been interpreted to mean the examination must be given within the United States during the school year in which the student participates or during the summer vacation period which precedes the school year in which the individual participates. A physical taken in the summer vacation period or anytime during the school year is good only to the end of the school year. Any physical taken May 1 or after will be considered a part of summer vacation. *The completed physical examination forms must be kept on file at the local high school.

During Science, 5th grade students learned that chemical reactions create new materials that have useful and interesting properties. Students experimented by combining different substances and watching for reactions. Then, students created a "Mystery Goo.”

5th grade students investigated and modeled how gases cause explosions. Students experimented by combining baking soda and vinegar inside a sealed bag and observed how the gas bubbles produced caused the bag to inflate–and sometimes pop!

10th grade Spanish received letters from Hershey Spanish students today! Mullen students wrote introductory letters to Hershey a few weeks ago. They were very excited to read their responses.

The Mullen Junior High Quiz Bowl students sent 2 teams to North Platte today and did great! Team members making the trip were: Alli B, Medora D, Haley D, Jarren F, Justin F, Maggi H, Brandon H, Tate K, Kalli L, Hope M, Kaleb M, Gus S, Daniel W, and Alex W. Great job !

7th Grade Spanish class (and a few others as well) learned how to play El Juego del Elástico today! This is quite a popular game/activity on Latin American school playgrounds.

Another fun Family STEM Night last night. Thank you to Mr. Kvanvig and the student volunteers who help the teachers make the night possible.
