Dear Mullen Public Schools Family – We are writing to make you aware of a recent cybersecurity incident involving PowerSchool, a software vendor which provides our Student Information System (SIS). On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, PowerSchool informed our leadership team that they experienced a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to certain PowerSchool SIS customer data. Unfortunately, they have confirmed that the information belongs to some of Mullen Public School’s families and educators. PowerSchool informed us that the taken data primarily includes parent and student contact information with data elements such as name and address information. Across their customer base, they have determined that for a portion of individuals, some personally identifiable information (PII), such as medical information, was impacted. To our knowledge, social security numbers (SSN) were not impacted for MPS as the district has not retained that information in the past. PowerSchool is working with urgency to complete their investigation and determine whether PII belonging to our students was included. Protecting our students is something we take seriously. With PowerSchool’s help, more information and resources (including credit monitoring or identity protection services if applicable) will be provided to you as it becomes available. 1st grade used shaving cream to work on missing numbers and missing addends!

The 2nd-grade students investigated the causes of canyons. In the activity, Cornmeal Canyons, students created a model landform using cornmeal. Then they dripped water over this “land” to observe how water can change shape and understand how canyons can be formed over long periods through a similar process.

The next regular meeting of the Mullen Board of Education will be Monday, January 13, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. in the 6-12 library. Upon advertisement, a draft of the agenda will be available for public inspection on the school website, the NASB Sparq website, and by request to the Superintendent’s office during regular office hours

With the generous donation of grant funds from the Turner Community Youth Foundation, 3rd grade was able to purchase Edison robots. Learning coding skills, problem solving, and collaboration techniques with these robots has been an exciting new addition to our classroom! The incorporation of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) into our current curriculum will inspire and cultivate a love of learning for our students. We are so thankful!

Due to the Winter Weather Advisory impacting our area, the basketball games scheduled for Saturday January 4, 2025 vs Maywood Hayes Center at Maywood have been postponed . The National Weather Service has advised us that travel will be difficult due to freezing fog /rain along with accumulating snow in the Maywood/North Platte area. We will look to find a makeup date with MHC in the future. No winter sports activities will take place tomorrow Saturday January 4, 2025.
