The 6th graders are learning the steps in the scientific method. They are doing experiments on how many drops of water the surface of each coin can hold. We are having fun while learning science and using math.

What a great night at the Back to School Bronco Bash! It was so great to see the parents and students at the Elementary and High School last night. An amazing crowd came out to watch the volleyball scrimmage! A huge thank you to all that supported the NHS. A special thank you from NHS to Mr. Kvanvig, Mr. Kuncl, Mr. Mauler, Kris Forsen, Kelley Carr, Tyler, Nikki, Elle Gracey, and the Fall coaches for helping make this night happen.

FCCLA Sign Up Meeting on Friday, (August 23rd) during lunch in the FCS room. Nachos will be served. If you are unable to make it, but still want to be a part of FCCLA, please talk to Mrs. Walz.
Students in Mrs. Vest's social studies classes have been getting hands-on with maps. The Sophomore World History class was the only class to finish the world map puzzle on the first day of school. The Freshman Geography class practiced reading latitude and longitude with a game of battleships today. Keep up the good work kids!
Notice of Meeting
Notice is hereby given that the Mullen Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Monday, August 26, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. in the high school library. This meeting will be a budget workshop for the board to review the preliminary 2024-2025 budget. Upon advertisement, an agenda will be available for public inspection in the Superintendent’s office during regular office hours and on the SPARQ meeting website.

All K-6 students can get into the first Volleyball/Football contest of the year on August 30th @ Tryon by bringing a book to participate in the book exchange.

All 7-12th Grade Fall Athletes must have a physical turned into the office by practice time on Monday, August 12th!!
In addition, all 7th and 8th graders must have a physical before participating in any JH sporting events!!

Dear Mullen Public Schools Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to announce that all Mullen Public School students can eat for free for the 2024-2025 school year! Mullen Public Schools has been selected to participate in the Community Eligibility Provision. The CEP is a non-pricing meal service option for schools and school districts in selected areas. Since MPS has qualified and is electing to participate in the CEP program, all students in grades K-12 who are enrolled at Mullen Public School will have the option to receive a free breakfast and free lunch.
What is the Community Eligibility Provision?
The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is a program offered by the Nebraska Department of Education Food Services department. The CEP offers an alternative method for providing school meals to local educational agencies (LEAs). The CEP allows identified schools the ability to offer all students free, nutritious school meals through the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs. It uses information from other programs, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program(SNAP) and the Temporary Assistance Program for Needy Families (TANF). Importance of Free and Reduced Applications.
So, do I still need to complete the Family Economic Data Survey? Yes, this is needed for the program and for other fee waivers and option enrollment mileage reimbursement for those who qualify for free status.
Under the CEP program, MPS is still required to serve reimbursable meals, meaning all students must have 3 of the five food groups on their tray, with one of the 3 being at least a ½ cup of fruit or vegetable. The students are not required to eat, nor can they be forced to eat everything on their tray. They need to have that amount as a minimum in order for their meal to be considered reimbursable by the State of Nebraska and the USDA. Also, a new requirement that comes with this program is that families will be required to pay for seconds ($1.00) and, as in the past, extra milk (50 cents each) purchased by students under their family account, as these are not covered under the CEP program. Same goes with students who bring their own lunch, one milk will be a .50 cent charge. In turn, it would be highly recommended that you keep some money in your lunch account. If your account is more than $25 behind, your student will not be allowed to get second entrees or additional milks.
We believe this program will benefit our students and community by ensuring every child can have nutritious meals during the school day. If you have questions about the CEP or the free meal program, please contact Katie Crisp at the elementary school office at 308-546-2292.
